Position Summary:

Clay Electric Cooperative is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forestry Tree Trimmer to join our right-of-way maintenance team. This position is responsible for trimming, removing, and clearing trees and vegetation that may interfere with power lines, equipment, and safe electric service. The ideal candidate will have experience in tree trimming operations, chain saw use, and working around energized electrical lines.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Trim, prune, and remove trees and vegetation from the cooperative’s right-of-way.
  • Operate chain saws, chippers, and other forestry equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Work in proximity to energized electrical lines following all safety procedures.
  • Assist with brush disposal, cleanup, and traffic control as needed.
  • Inspect work areas for hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the forestry supervisor and other crew members.
  • Maintain equipment and report any issues promptly.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in tree trimming, line clearance, or related work preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate chain saws, chippers, skid steer with mulching head and aerial lift or bucket trucks.
  • Must be able to work outdoors year-round and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL driver’s license
  • Must reside or willing to move (90 days) within territorial footprint of Clay Electric Cooperative. Territory Map Here
  • Knowledge of safe work practices around power lines a plus.
  • NON Journeyman applicants will have to complete a 2 year apprenticeship program
  • Journeyman tree trimmers must verify completion of training.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Physical labor including climbing, lifting, bending, and working at heights.
  • Occasional overtime and standby duty may be required during outages or emergencies.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Clay Electric Cooperative offers a competitive wage and an excellent benefits package including:

  • Current wage rate: $20.49-$34.16 per hour. Determined by experience and certification
