Job Posting: Electrical Journeyman Lineman

Clay Electric Cooperative, a member-owned electric cooperative dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to our members, is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Journeyman Lineman to join our team.

 

Position Summary

The Electrical Journeyman Lineman is responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the cooperative’s electrical distribution and transmission system. This position requires strong technical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in all weather conditions, often under challenging circumstances.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution lines at 12.47/7200 KV
  • Working on energized conductors to minimize member outages
  • Work on and maintain transformer banks and metering. Primary and Secondary
  • Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other line equipment.
  • Respond to after-hours outages, storm damage, and emergency situations, often outside normal working hours
  • Perform line switching and sectionalizing to restore service safely
  • Climb poles and work at heights in accordance with safety standards
  • Read and interpret staking sheets, maps, and diagrams
  • Maintain compliance with cooperative safety rules, policies, and applicable regulations
  • Promote excellent member service while representing the cooperative in the community

 

Qualifications

  • Must have completed a recognized Electrical Lineman Apprenticeship program
  • Journeyman Lineman certification required
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL driver’s license
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with crew members, dispatch, and cooperative members during routine and emergency operations
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, safety procedures, and industry practices
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Physical ability to perform strenuous work outdoors in varying conditions
  • Must reside or willing to move (90 days) within territorial footprint of Clay Electric Cooperative

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Climb, stoop, kneel, and work in elevated positions for extended periods.
