From the Manager - September 2024

It’s hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by. Summer has ended, and the kids are back in school. We’re proud to have supported three local students in their educational journeys with $500 scholarships, which were awarded during our 80th Annual Meeting last month.

As we approach the end of the year, it’s time to talk about capital credits. As a cooperative, Clay Electric operates as a not-for-profit organization. This means that any money our members pay through rates that exceed what we need to run the business and provide power is set aside as margins. These margins are held for a period of time in case they’re needed, and then they are returned to our members. We’re pleased to continue repaying capital credits at an accelerated rate, and this year we’re returning credits from 1984-1985.

In this month’s issue of Illinois Country Living Magazine, you’ll find our Nondeliverable Capital Credits List. This list includes the names of members whose capital credit checks have been returned to us or were never cashed. If you recognize any names, please have them contact us at 618-662-2171 to inquire about the status of their capital credits.

Also, don’t forget to look for your member number hidden within this magazine. We’ve placed three member numbers throughout the pages, and if you find yours and give us a call, you’ll receive a $5 discount on your next bill! Happy hunting!
