From the Manager March 2018
Time flies when you are having fun, and I find new excitement every day I come in to Clay Electric Co-operative as your CEO. Coming into our new office building at 7784 Old Highway 50 in Flora still makes me smile. Especially when I think on how much value our new facility adds to your cooperative and how we were able to provide it for you with no increase in rates.
I am excited to have been part of selecting our Youth Tour participants from among the Junior Classes of our local area high schools. I look forward to taking them to Springfield to meet with our legislators and to experience a bit of how our government works. I’m also excited to tour them around our state capital and let them absorb some of our state’s and nation’s history through the museums and historical sites of Springfield.
As the weather starts to turn, it’s time to get some projects underway. I’m happy to announce that we have been working on a three phase rebuild project in the Iola area. The project will rebuild several miles of line and increase the reliability of our infrastructure in the Iola area. This is one of many improvement projects we plan to implement this year. We work hard to provide the best, most reliable service to all our members possible.
Solar installations continue to be a topic that comes up around the office and in my conversations with members. It is important for our members to know that any solar installation must be owned by the member. Please call or stop by if you have any questions about what kind of builds work in our area. With different laws and subsidies in flux at the state level, there are lots of questions floating around. We encourage any of our members interested in a solar build, or information on ways to improve their home’s efficiency to lower cost, to contact us before starting any building project. With so many moving parts, it’s always best to make sure you understand the full impact and potential pitfalls of any major construction project.
As you flip through your center section, keep your eyes peeled for your member number. There are three member numbers hidden in Clay Electric News. If you find your number and give us a call you win $5 off your next bill!
