From the Manager December 2020
In this center section, you will find a list of undeliverable capital credits. You are a member of a cooperative, and that is quite different than being a consumer of a municipal or investor owned utility. One of the perks you have as a member is the distribution of capital credits. Clay Electric Co-operative is a non-profit electric cooperative. When we bring in more money from our members than needed to run the cooperative, that money is accounted as margins. We keep record of these margins and pay them back to our membership through capital credits.
This year, we are paying back capital credits for the years of 1969-1975. Member’s from those years that earned capital credits will have received a check in November. In this center section, you will find our list of members that we could not deliver a check to. If you find your name, or the name of someone you know, make them aware that they need to contact our offices and inquire about undelivered capital credits.
As we look forward to Christmas and the New Year, we continue to plan for the future. It looks bright. Clay Electric will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 in observance of Christmas this year, we will also be closed Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day. We wish you and yours the best this and every month.
As always, keep a lookout for your member number in the center section of this magazine. There are three member numbers hidden in Clay Electric News. If you find your number and give us a call, you win $5 off your next bill!
